Stay In The Know With The Chicago Experts September 9, 2009

Greetings from Chicago.com!
September is my favorite month (and not only because it’s my birthday). I love September because I don’t need my winter coat yet. I love September because it reminds me of those back-to-school days and back-to-school clothes. I love September because the leaves change and it’s simply beautiful outside. I love September because there are several ways to have a good time (watching football, for example) as well as several ways to do good (such as raising money for cures). However you spend your September, Chicago.com is here to help.

Walk It
Join fellow walkers as they help battle Lou Gehrig’s disease at Chicago’s 8th annual Les Turner ALS Walk4Life on September 12. This community event will raise money, awareness, and hope to one day find a cure. Check in is at 8:30am at the Montrose Harbor (4400 N. Lake Shore Drive). Shelly, we’ll be walking for you!

Drink It
Stroll through Old Town and you’ll find the best the city has to offer: comedy clubs, great Mexican food, and cute boutiques. Wells Street is hosting “Crush, Music & Comedy Fest,” on Saturday September 12-Sunday, September 13. Hours are from 12:00am-11pm both days. You’ll be able to sample over 100 wines. It’s like traveling to France, Italy, Australia, Spain, and Chile all in one day!

Crack It
There are many ways to celebrate autumn. You can go on a crisp walk or watch the leaves change. My husband and I prefer to grab a few pints of Guinness (him) and share some fresh seafood (me). Luckily at the Oyster Fest, located in Roscoe Village on September 19, there will be many tents with fresh oysters. Neighborhood restaurants, however, will also feature other culinary goodies besides fish.

Yolk just opened their second location in River North, and you’d better run there for breakfast. You can also try their South Loop location. From skillets to scramblers, you indulge in a low-carb egg fantasy. Of course, there’s also stuffed French toast just in case you aren’t quite feeling like ordering egg whites.

North Avenue, Oak Street and Foster Avenue Beach are closed after Labor Day, so find a friend with a pool or blow up a plastic one! You can always hit the spa for a relaxing day in a hot tub or sauna.

A Great Time in Chicago

What a Great Time In Chicago! Sure the Cubs and White Sox are not in first place but the city is in prime-time. We have had Jazz Feast and the big Oprah Show on the Mag Mile. This a great time to have a steak, to find the crab or lobster of your choice. Go find the best pizza AND HOTDOG OF YOUR CHOICE. Buy A NEW OUTFIT. Walk THE LAKE. Ride YOUR BIKE. Just GET IT ALL IN NOW!

September is a wonder time in Chicago. Jackets and sweaters are so fashionable. Walking Michagan Ave. is so hot. Selecting the right restaurant is a good idea. Sea food is a smart move. However, steak is the real deal. Spend the money and invest in a great steak.

One must be so selective in making the best choices for entertainment. The Reader and Center stage are great sources of info. Always remember September the days we chariest.
